Each of the three "legs" of the Halkidiki Peninsula has its own particular attraction and special characteristics. The Kassandra on the left, to the west, is a lovely holiday resort with plenty of hotels, shops, tavernas, and entertainment. Ag. Oros to the east, and on the right, is the one known for its monasteries and hermitages. It has no tourism industry and could be considered a state within a state, as it has its own laws and regulations, one of which is that women are not allowed to visit.
Today our tour will explore the region of Sithonia, the middle leg of the Halkidiki peninsula, and with some of the most beautiful long, sandy beaches of the region.
The drive throughout the are will feature a magical landscape, with quiet sandy gulfs. One of the first stops will be at the picturesque village of Neos Marmaras, on the west coast of Sithonia.
Shortly thereafter, we will continue following the coastal road until we arrive to the east coast of Sithonia, from where you may see Mount Athos across the gulf. Our next stop will be at the little village of Sarti, for leisure time and swimming.
We will return to our hotel later in the afternoon. | One of the beautiful long sandy beaches |
